You create a code for your kid through the app and share it with them. That code is tied to your account and gives them access to view the videos you’ve unlocked for them. A dedicated kids app is on the roadmap; for now they can use the same app with a child-mode view.
Every video you’ve recorded stays accessible to your children on the unlock schedule you set. Hey Dad is built so your story keeps reaching them long after you’re gone. You can designate a trusted family contact in settings to manage account access if needed.

Hey Mom is on our roadmap. The long-term vision for Hey Dad is connecting entire families — moms, dads, grandparents, anyone who wants to leave their voice for the next generation. Hey Dad came first; the rest of the family is coming.
Your videos remain stored. You’ll lose the ability to record new videos and schedule new unlocks, but existing scheduled videos will still unlock to your kids on time. You can reactivate anytime to resume recording.
Upload speed depends on your internet connection and video length. A 5-minute HD video typically uploads in 1–3 minutes on wifi. If uploads are consistently slow, try recording shorter videos or uploading on wifi rather than cellular.

Yes. Your videos are stored encrypted, only accessible to you and the family members you specifically grant access to. We do not share, sell, or analyze your video content. Authentication is handled through industry-standard secure protocols.
Yes — that’s the heart of what Hey Dad does. You can unlock videos now, at a specific age (like 13 or 18), on a milestone (graduation, wedding day), or on an exact date.
No. Some of the most meaningful videos are 30 seconds. Record what feels natural — a quick “I love you” matters as much as a 20-minute life lesson.
